The inspiration for Vinny Vanucchi’s Italian cuisine was co-owner Deb Coulter’s grandmother, Lucille LaCorte’s cooking. Growing up downstairs from her "Nana Lu" - as she was affectionately called - Deb remembers pots of red sauce simmering in the kitchen, fresh basil growing around the house, and family get-togethers where no one went away hungry.
To create Vinny’s menu, Deb spent hours in the kitchen -- doubling, tripling, and even quadrupling the family recipes. She relied on her memories of the flavors of each dish she enjoyed while growing up on Taylor Street in Chicago's Little Italy.
Nana Lu never froze any of her dishes and always cooked with fresh ingredients. Deb followed her grandmother's lead and decided Vinny's would do the same. So whether it's Nana Lu's Meat Lasagna, Auntie Nancy's Manicotti, or any pasta, dinner or house specialty, while dining at Vinny Vanucchi's you
are guaranteed a delicious "Taste of the Old Neighborhood."
